Finally shot the promo video for my web series Nuclear Salvation yesterday. Barely slept the night before and we took off from Los Angeles at 4am and headed to the desert. It was a total of 5 of us in a minivan that I rented for the day and it took us 2 and half hours to get to our location. We shot until 5pm and then headed back to LA but only after we stopped by Coachella to eat a bucket of KFC. It was an exhausting but fun day and I was really happy with footage that we got (only wish we had more time to get more). I’ve posted a bunch of stills from the shoot, some are from screen grabs from the HD footage and others are still photo images.
Here is the cast/crew for the teaser trailer.
Director/DP- Dennis Tzeng (I’m wearing the bright blue T-shirt and holding the camera)
James McCarthy – Jose Rosete (the lead character wearing military jacket and carrying the shotgun)
Helios Soldier/Post Apocalyptic Survivor - Robert Popa (he’s the one in the bright yellow hazmat suit and gas mask)
Makeup Artist - Ashlyn Melancon (she did a great job dirtying up Jose and Robert and making them look post-apocalypticy)
Behind The Scenes Photographer/Cam B Operator – Hubert Cheng (he’s wearing grey and is in the last picture with me)
I should have the teaser trailer edited and ready in a few weeks and then I’m going to start our Kickstarter (or IndieGogo) campaign in early February to coincide with the release of the trailer. Just a note, the teaser trailer won’t have much dialogue in it as it was meant as a proof of concept and visual representation of what the web series will look and feel like tone wise and there will be similar scenes to the ones shown in the trailer, they won’t be exactly the same (hopefully even better).
Let me know what you think of the pics, thanks!
BTW The images below were taken with my Canon 7D and Hubert’s Sony A77 and I also color corrected them using Magic Bullet.
